Merry X'mas!

Got a pleasant surprise which got me into an embarrassment situation in office today. Received gifts from my colleagues & I didn't have any for them! I am quite new in this company & no one forewarn me there will be exchange of gifts on X'mas eve. Didn't come across this practice with other companies I worked for. So, I panicked. ~.~" Dashed down to the mall below my office & grab some chocolates, gift-wrapped & scattered them among my colleagues. So embarrassing & felt like a mountain tortoise. Normally, I don't celebrate X'mas, but am gratefully to my nice colleagues & thanks them from the bottom of my heart. I'm so happy... this is the 1st time I received X'mas gifts in a working place & those gifts made this one of the best X'mas I had.

Wishing everybody a Merry X'mas & a Happy New Year!

Kallang Ice World

It's near X'mas, right? That conjure up images of winter, snow & frozen rivers & lakes. Ice skating time! No winter, frozen river or lake in hot & humid Singapore? No problem! Go to the new Kallang Ice World! So on Saturday(22nd Dec), I went to ice-skate with a couple of friends at Kallang Ice World. This is the new ice rink located at Leisure Park Kallang. Leisure Park Kallang was formerly known as Kallang Leisure Dome which was torn down & rebuild. The old place had an ice rink where I used to skate alot in my secondary school days. That's when I took up this cool icy hobby. After Kallang Leisure Dome was torn down, there's no place near where I could ice-skate, except Jurong which is very far out-of-the-way for me. When the new ice rink open, I was so excited about it. Finally, somewhere near where I can go ice-skating again! Happy happy so happy! xD

Entry fees are as follows: *Pls click on image to enlarge

For me, I just have to pay for the entry fee as I have my own skate & gloves. If you just wanna go in with your friends & view only, it's S$3.00. The new rink is bigger than the old one with better seats for viewers. Ice-skating doesn't seem to be a popular activity here. Was surprised that it was quite crowded. Maybe due to the fact that the place is new. Lots of people were skating, more like gingerly threading on ice or falling down or butts skating, but they seem to be enjoying themselves despite embarrass looks after comical falls.

Skates on & in we went for some ice-butt-skating. Among all those cold weather clothing which nearly everyone worn, I look out-of-place with my skimpy tropical wear. I love the cold! Hate hot & humid as I tend to perspire alot easily! I'm a cutie polar bear... eh... polar hamster? =P

Helping friends on ice

Always had difficulties in finding friends to go ice-skating with me. Most are not interested or simply afraid of embarrassing themselves. Many people always say words like, "Live life to the max!" or "Try everything!", but seem that almost all just can't do it when it comes to putting words into action. Thankfully this time round, there're a few new friends who dare to try ice-skating & I'm grateful for their company. =)

With some cool friends on ice

Simply love to ice-skate! Will be going back for more! Since my favorite gashapon/anime shop, Latendo, had moved to the same building, I can enjoy my 2 favorite hobbies, ice-skating & browsing for gashapon/figures at the same location. Anyone wanna join me in the future? xD

EOY 2007

It's the time of the year again... for cos-playing I mean. EOY is the biggest cos-play event of the year in Singapore. For every cos-player, diehard or newbie, it's a must-go event & of course, as a sorta fan of cos-playing, I'm there. The event was held at Singapore Expo on 15th Dec.

EOY '07

Arrived at the venue at about 2 pm. Flamboyant cos-players, cute lolitas, stylish gothic dressers, supporters, fans, photographers, curious on-lookers all packed together. Was greatly impressed by the great turn out of so many varieties of fantastic outfits.

Inside the event hall

Inside the event hall, a mini stage shared space with an anime art competition display at a corner & a row of stalls. More stalls were set up outside selling all sort of cos-playing/anime items with nice display of ball-joint dolls. At one corner, a mini photo studio booth was set up... free photo session for cos-players & fashion dressers. Encouraged by the 2 friends who ran the photo studio, I posed for a few pics. Heehee... I'm a photo whore anyway. =P

Wandered around meeting many familiar faces & quite a number of new ones. Really admired the effort & devotion put into those awesome costumes & props by these hobbyists.

Elegant & stylist costumes

Sword, claws, fan & skates

Soldiers, girl warrior & a skinny legs sponge =P

Cool Cos-players & Cute Lolitas

Huge wings & giant weapons

Fantasy & Comedy

Fairy Tales & Robots Talks

I love weapons & as usual, "stole" some & played with them. I was so engrossed with all the fun around me that I was caught off guard. A saucy vampire sneak up & bite me! xD

I've got a gun... & a huge hammer!

Bite of ecstasy

The winning team of the event is a team of Trinity Blood characters. They have had 22 players in their team, by far the biggest team of cos-players I'd seen. Was really amazed by the sophistication of their costumes. They really deserve to win. My congrats to them.

The winners

Reflecting on the fun all those cos-players have, I'm itching to try cos-playing myself... maybe in the near future when I've the time & some extra cash.

In closing, I'd like to thank all those cool cos-players/fashion dressers who posed with me. You guys really make me very happy at EOY. A heartfelt thanks to you all. A big portion of this entry is written in appreciation of the enthusiasm & devotion you people put into your hobby. Looking forward to meet you guys at other cos-play events. Keep up the good job! =)
